The inside story of a revolution gone wrong. Less than three years after the popular uprising that led to President Hosni Mubarak's ouster, and just one year after Egypt's first free and fair elections, the democratically elected government has been overthrown and the Egyptian military is running the state. And the Muslim Brotherhood--the secretive, long-outlawed Islamist group that came out of the shadows to win the presidency in June 2012--is once again being driven underground. Were the Brothers ever really in charge? Or was the Egyptian "deep state"--embedded remnants of Mubarak's police force, Supreme Court and, most of all, military--in control all along? In Egypt in Crisis, FRONTLINE and GlobalPost's Charles M. Sennott go inside the Egyptian revolution, tracing how what began as a youth movement to topple a dictator evolved into an opportunity for the Muslim Brotherhood to seemingly find the political foothold it had sought for decades--and then why it all fell apart. With Egypt's hopes for democracy in tatters, and the military-led government violently cracking down on the Brothers, what will happen next?

L'Uomo Illustrato by Ray Bradbury
Fanucci | 2005 | ISBN: 8834711106 | 239 pages | EPUB | 3 MB

"It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains."
So begins Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, an expanded edition of the beloved Jane Austen novel featuring all-new scenes of bone-crunching zombie mayhem. As our story opens, a mysterious plague has fallen upon the quiet English village of Meryton—and the dead are returning to life! Feisty heroine Elizabeth Bennet is determined to wipe out the zombie menace, but she's soon distracted by the arrival of the haughty and arrogant Mr. Darcy. What ensues is a delightful comedy of manners with plenty of civilized sparring between the two young lovers—and even more violent sparring on the blood-soaked battlefield. C

Benvenuti nella mia cucina by Benedetta Parodi
Vallardi | 2012 | ISBN: 8878879932 | 263 pages | PDF | 8 MB

Ten may be classic rock today, but it's easy to underestimate how radical Pearl Jam sounded back in 1991, even with Nirvana ascendant. After several long years of hair metal dominance, here was a band that could jam stadium-large, texture their sound darkly and densely, and explode the blues-rock template. Here was a frontman with an entirely new stage presence, whose voice strained hard for sincerity and whose songwriting expressed grave self-reckoning without resorting to easy sentiments or self-glorifying choruses. Against the odds-- as well as against the band's wishes, apparently-- their debut became a phenomenon, an alt-rock figurehead as crucial as Nevermind in ushering in and defining the parameters for mainstream rock. Vedder's self-doubts ran as deep as Cobain's, but he expressed them bluntly and directly rather than poetically and obscurely. Oh and also, he's still alive.

This album, like the two others of this american group (that left America for Germany at the end of the 60's), is absolutely perfect. Very very long jams (three songs only), great progressive-jazz-rock fusion style, buy it now!!! The songs progressive & transcendental structure is a warranty of orgasmic pleasure !
I regret that american people don't know this group (that's what i've been told), because it could be a revelation for most of jazz-rock fans. Moreover, i sincerely think that Phish has learned a lot from Sweet smoke, and use that in their jams.

Don't miss The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones, a major motion picture in theaters August 2013.
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder—much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing—not even a smear of blood—to show that a boy has died. But was he a boy?
Exotic and gritty, exhilarating and utterly gripping, Cassandra Clare's ferociously entertaining fantasy takes readers on a wild ride that they will never want to end.

But what's normal when you're a demon-slaying Shadowhunter, your mother is in a magically induced coma, and you can suddenly see Downworlders like werewolves, vampires, and faeries? If Clary left the world of the Shadowhunters behind, it would mean more time with her best friend, Simon, who's becoming more than a friend. But the Shadowhunting world isn't ready to let her go—especially her handsome, infuriating, newfound brother, Jace. And Clary's only chance to help her mother is to track down rogue Shadowhunter Valentine, who is probably insane, certainly evil—and also her father.
